Traíra

It is a voracious, quarreling fish, completely territorial and very sporty. It has sharpened teeth bigger and worse than the Piranha and all the care is little in its handling, because in addition it is extremely smooth and slippery. The traíra is active when the water is hot, with temperature above 18 ° C. It inhabits places of still water and abundant aquatic vegetation. Pieces of wood, fallen logs, cans, are a great hiding place for traíras. In the cold months they are buried in the bottom to withstand the low temperature of the water. Fishing with artificial baits is a great option for those who want to catch them. As for natural baits, small fish, frogs and earthworms are part of your favorite menu. Whether in fishing with artificial baits, or with traditional bamboo rods, a thick leader or a steel tie are recommended as your teeth are very sharp. Aruanã

Aruanans are freshwater fish of the Osteoglossidae family, often known as tongue-of-the-bone. In this fish family, the head is bony and the broad body is covered by huge scales, forming a mosaic pattern. The tongue-of-the-bone name is derived from a dental bone in the wall of the mouth, the "tongue", equipped with teeth that bite against each other in the roof of the mouth. Its head is adorned with six long beards, which work with the sensitive organ. They have an elongated body, aerodynamic and plump, with spurs at the tips of the pectoral and dorsal fins. The head is flat and large, about a third of the total. The coloration is dark gray on the back, clearing towards the belly, where it can reach the white, just below the lateral line.

Pirarucu

Pirarucu is one of the largest freshwater fish in the fluvial and lacustrine areas of Brazil. It can reach three meters and its weight can go up to 200 kg. It is a fish that is usually found in the Amazon basin, more specifically in the floodplain areas, where the waters are calmer. It usually lives in lakes and rivers of clear and slightly alkaline waters with temperatures ranging from 24 to 37 ° C, not being found in a zone of strong currents and water rich in sediments. This fish is one of the largest freshwater in the world, and also known as the Amazon cod.
